Converting video for the iriver e150 with Avidemux
The iriver e150 is a mp3 player (remember those?) with a QVGA screen. I used it a lot to listen to audio books. The video capabilities of this little piece of “emotional Scandinavian design” (their words…) have never really interested me, mostly because you had to convert the video file with a proprietary desktop application (and my main machine has run a flavor of Linux for decades).
Apparently I have experimented with getting video to play on it in the past. Here’s a little script that I uncovered while cleaning out my hard drive. It is based on the iPod Auto Wizard and still works with Avidemux 2.6. I won’t claim these are the most optimal settings or even that it will work on your machine. But maybe someone will find this a useful staring point…
Solution
Place the following code in ~/.avidemux/custom/iRiver_e150.js.
It should show up under the “Custom” menu in Avidemux.
